TOEFL QUESTIONS

It is not surprising that Nigerian students—including the seemingly brilliant ones that get ‘A’ in English language in their O’level—tend to perform below standard on the TOEFL. For one thing, the TOEFL is based on North American English, and not British English. Moreover, much have been learned or acquired over time—skills such as ability to reason and make inferences, paraphrase and use precise vocabulary, as well as effective writing skills. To perform well, you’ll have to refine these skills (if you don’t already have them).

Note that the times listed do not include the time needed to read and listen to section directions. The times listed for the Listening and Speaking sections are approximations. After the listening section, you are given a 10 minute break.
